Renault is offering a range of deals and a special-edition Megane small family car.
The Megane Oasis special edition is part of the company’s effort to maintain sales against new rivals such as the Citroen C4, Ford Focus, Volkswagen Golf and three-door Vauxhall Astra.
Priced from £12,030 for a 1.4-litre petrol, it costs £300 more than the Expression model it is based on, but comes with extra equipment worth £1250. This includes a sunroof, an alarm, electrically folding and heated door mirrors, and the Renault Card keyless entry and start-up system.
Renault is offering a £1035 guaranteed discount on the model throughout April, while dealers discounts of up to around 8% mean you should pay from £10,115 for the cheapest three-door hatchback – nearly £2000 less than the official asking price.
Available to order until June, the Oasis is on offer as a three- or five-door hatchback, saloon or estate. Buyers can choose from two petrol engines, a 98bhp 1.4-litre or 115bhp 1.6-litre, or opt for one of two diesels offering 86bhp or 100bhp. Each of the most powerful engines can also be specified with an automatic gearbox.
What Car? Target Price mystery shoppers have also uncovered extra incentives that Renault is giving dealers to sell Megane Dynamique models. The cars are available for almost 17% less than their list prices and are nearly as cheap as an Expression or Oasis.
They lack the sunroof, electric mirrors and Renault Card system of the Oasis but outdo Expression cars with alloy wheels, xenon headlights, chrome door handles, leather steering wheel, upgraded seat trim and alarm.
