Seat Leon prices released

03 August 2005

Seat has announced the price of its new Leon small family car.

The hatchback starts at £11,295 for an entry-level Essence model, rising to £17,295 for the 2.0 TDI Sport with the DSG gearbox.

Five trims and five engines are available – three petrol units, topped by a 183bhp 2.0-litre, and two diesels rated at up to 138bhp.

Essence £11,295
There is no air-conditioning, but front, side and curtain airbags, front electric windows, a CD player, traction control, remote central locking, and an alarm are all standard. The Essence model is powered by the 101bhp 1.6-litre engine.

Reference £11,995 to £12,995
An extra £700 adds air-conditioning. Engine choice also expands to include the 104bhp 1.9-litre diesel.

Reference Sport £14,220 to £14,995
Extra equipment over standard Reference includes front foglights, 16-inch alloy wheels, sports suspension and seats, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gearlever. Reference Sport is available with the 148bhp 2.0-litre petrol or 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine.

Stylance £12,995 to £15,320
At £1000 more than the Reference, this trim adds dual-zone climate control, cruise control, electrically adjustable and folding door mirrors and four electric windows. You can choose the 101bhp 1.6-litre or 148bhp 2.0-litre petrol, or the 104bhp 1.9-litre diesel.

Sport from £16,495
Until the hot Cupras arrive next year, this is as sporty as the Leon gets. As well as larger alloy wheels, you’ll get all the equipment of the Stylance and Reference Sport. Pick from the 148bhp diesel or the as-yet unpriced 183bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine.
