The new Skoda Octavia estate has been priced from £12,180, with first deliveries expected around February next year.
The price-tag for an entry-level 102bhp 1.6-litre petrol in Classic trim makes the estate £700 more expensive than the hatchback version. The cheapest diesel estate, a Classic-trimmed 105bhp 1.9-litre, costs from £13,480.
Two other petrol engines are available. The 115bhp 1.6-litre costs from £14,240 and the 150bhp 2.0-litre costs from £15,100 in an Ambiente-trimmed car. A 2.0-litre diesel model, which develops 140bhp, starts at £16,000 in Ambiente trim.
Basic equipment levels match those of the hatchback, but all estates are fitted with roof rails, a load cover and hooks for shopping bags in the luggage compartment as standard. The luggage capacity of 580 litres grows to 1620 litres with the rear seats folded. This beats every other estate in the class, such as the Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla.
Every Octavia estate comes with front and side airbags, traction control, central locking, a CD player and electric front windows and door mirrors. The 102bhp petrol is only available in this Classic specification.
Ambiente models cost £1020 more and also feature air-conditioning, remote central locking, an alarm, rear electric windows and a CD multichanger. Elegance models cost £2120 more than their Classic equivalents, and get alloy wheels, cruise control and climate control as standard.
Four-wheel-drive versions of the estate will arrive by March. Although prices are yet to be confirmed, the 150bhp petrol version is likely to cost from around £16,100 and the 105bhp diesel from around £15,500.
