Vauxhall has launched a sporty new VXR label which will be reserved for its highest performance models.
Named after the Vauxhall’s VX Racing team which competes in the British Touring Car Championship, the VXR brand will treat cars to extra power, sharper handling and unique looks.
The VX220 roadster and big Monaro coupe will be the first to get the treatment with a world debut for the cars at the British Motor Show in Birmingham later this month.
The manufacturer says other key models will be given VXR versions in the near future, starting with the three-door Astra which makes its debut next spring.
Other models will follow every six to nine months after that with the Zafira MPV next in line. The Vectra family car, Corsa supermini and forthcoming Tigra convertible are other likely candidates for the VXR stable which Vauxhall described as ‘like GSi but with another 20% on top’.
