Suzuki has confirmed it will launch a hot-hatch version of its new Swift supermini.
The Swift GTi will be on sale in the UK by the end of this year, powered by a 1.6-litre petrol engine producing around 120bhp.
It will be joined by a cabriolet in the spring of 2006, which Suzuki said will have an electrically operated soft top.
The cabriolet will be offered with the 1.3-litre and the 1.5-litre engine available in three- and five-door versions of the Swift hatchback, which go on sale in the UK in May. A diesel version will be available from August.
Prices are yet to be confirmed for the Swift range but it should start at £7800 for the 1.3-litre three-door, rising to around £9500 for the five-door 1.5.
