The current Agila sells in small numbers here, despite modest sales success on the Continent. Last month, just 49 were sold – compared with 460 sales of the Citroën C2 and 380 of the Ford Ka.
‘It is not confirmed that we will sell a replacement,’ Vauxhall managing director Kevin Wale told Whatcar.com. A decision will be made in the next six to 12 months, he added.
Today’s Agila is the fruit of a collaboration with Suzuki, whose Wagon R+ was developed alongside the baby Vauxhall. Both companies have committed to working together on the next-generation cars, which will again be built in eastern Europe.
The new Agila will be much more stylish than the current utilitarian design, according to insiders who have seen the car. It is designed to appeal to buyers who would otherwise consider less drab rivals, such as the Ford Ka.
