Vauxhall’s new Astra Estate will cost from £13,045 when it goes on sale on November 1, a premium of £1050 over the Astra hatchback.
Specification levels for the estate are identical to the hatchback’s, and the range starts with the 90bhp 1.4-litre petrol model in Life trim.
Club models cost from £14,045, while Design trim starts at £15,525 in 105bhp 1.6-litre petrol form.
Sporty SXi models, which have stiffened, lowered suspension, are priced from £14,545 with the 1.4-litre petrol engine, while SRi trim starts at £16,245 with the 125bhp 1.8-litre petrol unit.
Also available are a 168bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol, two 1.7-litre turbodiesels developing 100bhp and 120bhp and a 150bhp 1.9 turbodiesel.
With the rear seats in place, the estate’s boot can hold 505 litres of luggage, which includes the underfloor stowage space and sidewall compartments. That’s 15 litres less than the Ford Focus and Renault Megane estates.
The Vauxhall’s rear seats fold in a 40/20/40 configuration to accommodate bigger loads, with a 1570-litre capacity when folded – 50 litres less than the Focus’s and 230 litres less than the Megane’s.
Every Astra estate is fitted with Vauxhall’s FlexOrganiser system, which allows the boot area to be split into sections using movable dividers. A power supply for charging phones or lap-tops is also fitted as standard.
