Volkswagen has cut the price of its Twist special edition Polo supermini by £690.
Prices now start at £8495 for a 64bhp 1.2-litre model, £1140 less than the S-trimmed car it is based on.
Although cheaper than an S-specced Polo, the Twist comes with alloy wheels and metallic paint as standard, as well as the usual fittings of air-conditioning, electric front windows, anti-lock brakes, four airbags and heated electrically adjustable door mirrors.
The five-door 1.2-litre Twist costs £8995. A car with a 74bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine costs from £8895 with three doors, and from £9395 in five-door guise. Diesel buyers can choose cars with the 63bhp 1.9-litre or the 74bhp 1.4-litre unit, priced from £8795 and £9495 respectively.
Twists with the 1.4-litre petrol engine also have the option of an automatic gearbox, which adds £600 to the price tag.
Although special edition cars are usually limited in their availability by time or number, the Twist has been on sale since July last year. Volkswagen says it is unlikely it will be withdrawn before the face-lifted Polo goes on sale next summer, and says numbers are unrestricted.
