Volkswagen has announced prices for the new Passat estate.
The car, which goes on sale in the UK in November, starts at £16,090 for the entry-level 1.6 S rising to £23,555 for the 2.0-litre SEL Tiptronic model, which has a semi-automatic gearbox.
There will be four choices of trim: S, SE, Sport and SEL, and a wide range of engines available from launch.
The line-up includes a 113bhp 1.6-litre, 147bhp 2.0-litre and 197bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, as well as a 103bhp 1.9-litre and 138bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine.
However, buyers will have to wait until early next year for the 3.2-litre 4Motion, and 2.0-litre TDI DSG Sport and SEL models.
Standard equipment across the range includes alloy wheels, LED rear lights, an electronic parking brake, air-conditioning, and a 'press and drive' key, which has to be pushed instead of turned to start the engine.
Optional extras will include a DVD-based navigation system and an electric tailgate-closing mechanism.
Volkswagen’s revolutionary DSG transmission – a semi-automatic gearbox with two clutches for quick, smooth gearshifts – will be available on TDI models, with six-speed Tiptronic gearboxes available on the 1.6- and 2.0-litre FSI engines.
