2013 Mercedes S-Class prices announced
Mercedes' new limo will be offered with a choice of three engines and two trims. The entry-level 254bhp 3.0-litre engine in the 350 Bluetec diesel is joined by a 328bhp S400 V6 hybrid and a 449bhp V8 petrol. All models come with Mercedes' seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The diesel in SE Line trim is the cheapest and most efficient model in the range, with CO2 emissions of 146g/km and average fuel economy of 51.4mpg. The AMG Line trim is also available with the diesel, priced at £67,685.
A long-wheelbase version of the diesel – in either trim – will also be offered. This will cost £3000 more than the standard car. All diesel models complete the 0-62mph dash in 6.8 seconds and have an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.
The hybrid and V8 petrol models are offered in long-wheelbase form only. The S400 Hybrid L starts at £69,650 for the SE Line model, while the S500 L is available in only AMG Line trim and costs from £88,130.
Merc's V6 hybrid in SE Line spec matches the diesel's performance from 0-62mph, while emitting 147g/km of CO2 and returning average economy of 44.8mpg.
The S500 is the fastest model – sprinting from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds. Average economy is 31.7mpg, with range-topping CO2 emissions of 207g/km.
Additional standard equipment on the AMG Line over SE trim includes sportier bodystyling, a wood and nappa leather-trimmed steering wheel, and brushed stainless steel pedals. S400 and S500 AMG models also get twin exhaust tailpipes integrated in the bumper.
The new S-Class is available to order at Mercedes dealers now, with the first UK customer deliveries expected from October.
