You won’t see a new RAV4 on the road until March 2013, but we’re giving you an early opportunity to get hands on with Toyota’s fourth-generation compact SUV.
The RAV4 has been going strong for almost 20 years, and this latest model is more conventional than its predecessor, with a lower driving position, and its side-opening tailgate replaced with a more practical top-hinged arrangement.
Toyota has addressed complaints about poor forward visibility by giving the car slim front pillars, while comfort has also been a focus for designers.
Toyota’s managed to do all of this, and slash the price of its entry-level version by an impressive £1745 – thanks to the new 2.0-litre 2WD diesel in the range.
With a starting price of £22,595, the RAV4’s still pricier than rivals such as the Honda CR-V and Nissan Qashqai, but does it shine in other areas? We want you to tell us.
We’re holding an exclusive early preview of the RAV4 at What Car? HQ in Teddington, Middlesex, on the afternoon of Thursday, January 31.
