Hot hatch fans could have an unexpected treat in store at the Paris Motor Show later this year.
Renault says it's launching an even hotter Renaultsport Megane with around 250bhp - 25bhp more than the current model.
The extra power will help to distance the Megane from the sporty new Clio Renaultsport 197, which went on sale this week.
Renault says it has developed a new system which will help the car control the extra power, but hasn't revealed what this may be. The company has ruled out four-wheel drive, however, so the solution may lie in a clever differential.
Work is already well under way on the next-generation Megane, which is expected around 2009.
