80g/km Suzuki due in 2014
The new model will be powered by a development of the Suzuki Alto's 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and, based on its incredibly low CO2 output, it should be able to offer average economy of 81mpg. That's around 9mpg more than any current petrol-only car can manage.
Suzuki's sales and marketing manager, Dale Wyatt, told What Car? that the new Volkswagen Up rival – which is yet to be named – will replace both the Alto and Splash, but will be closer in size to that of the larger car.
He also revealed that prices are expected to start from around £8000.
