Audi's A4 compact executive car is now available with a 2.7-litre V6 turbodiesel engine.
The 2.7 TDI filters down from the A6 range and replaces the A4'S current 2.5 TDI.
The 177bhp unit can power the A4 from standing to 62mph in 8.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 143mph. The engine returns 40.1mpg on the combined cycle and has a carbon dioxide output of 185g/km putting the A4 2.7 TDI into the 27% company car tax bracket.
Available in standard, S and SE trim, the A4 2.7-litre TDI starts at £25,270 for the saloon and £26,420 for the Avant. That's an increase of £805 over the outgoing 2.5 TDI model.
Discounts of up to 6.5% are available on most models in the A4 range, so our mystery shoppers reckon similar discounts will be available on the 2.7 TDI after the initial interest has died down.
Remember, like most of the A4 range, the 2.7 TDI is available with an upgrade to SE spec at no extra cost until the end of June.
