The AA has jumped on the sat-nav bandwagon just in time for Christmas with the Navigator Vive!, a compact dash-top model priced at just £149.99.
In addition to the expected full UK and Ireland mapping, the Vive! also features recommendations for restaurants, hotels, pubs, golf courses and tourist attractions from the famous AA guides. If you want maps for Europe, you’ll have to pay another £99.99 for an SD card that slots into the side of the unit.
The AA has also included information on speed camera locations (normally sited at accident black spots), which can be updated via a PC. Updates once the initial free six month trial has expired cost £99.95 for three years.
Mapping is provided by Navteq, and the AA claims that Vive! can be programmed to find any destination in just three steps.
For the moment, you can only buy the Vive! from the AA’s Navigator website (www.aanavigator.com) – it won’t be in shops until after Christmas.
