AA patrol staff have voted to strike in a battle over pensions.

Patrol staff voted 57% in favour of industrial action, which could lead to the first strike in the organisation's 105-year history.

The Independent Democratic Union (IDU), which represents the AA patrol staff, claimed there was 'widespread anger' over the motoring body's plans to cap pension payouts.

No dates set – yet
No dates for strikes have been set and the IDU is calling for the AA to return to the negotiating table for more talks.

The AA wants to put a cap on annual increases in pensions, while also increasing staff contributions to the scheme.

The company's final salary scheme has already been closed to new recruits.
