Anatomy of a car crash - Belting up when pregnant

16 May 2007
Wearing a seatbelt is the best way to protect both the mother and unborn child in a car crash. It's important to position the belt properly – the lap portion must lay flat across the legs under the belly, and the shoulder belt lie between the breasts.

Volvo uses a video simulator to carry out virtual crash tests, and the results in the clip show how effectively an airbag can reduce the impact of a crash on an unborn child when the mother is driving.
