Aston DBS buyers can now opt for an automatic gearbox.

The six-speed unit is developed from the system in the DB9, but provides more aggressive shifts to maintain a sporty feel to the car. This can be enhanced further by setting the gearbox to Sport mode.

Performance figures remain the same as on the six-speed manual, with the DBS travelling from 0-62mph in 4.3secs and on to a top speed of 191mph.

Changes can be made in a full automatic mode, or by using steering wheel-mounted alloy paddles.

The automatic gearbox costs an additional £3000 over the standard car’ £160,000 asking price.

Aston is also introducing a range of other options, including replacing the rear storage area with two occasional seats and new 20-inch alloys.

In addition, a 1000-watt, 10-speaker Bang & Olufsen BeoSound audio system is now standard.
