2007 facelifted Astra (no really)

Vauxhall will release this subtly face-lifted Astra in January.

On the outside, there's a revised front bumper, extra chrome detailing on the grille and new front and rear light lenses. Inside, customers will get the choice between a piano black or matt chrome finish.

A new 178bhp, 1.6-litre turbo engine replaces the current 168bhp, 2.0-litre unit. Priced from £18,200, the new engine can power the Astra to 60mph in 7.8 and on to a top speed of 137mph. It has a combined fuel economy figure of 36.7mpg and puts out 185g/km of CO2, which earns the car a place in the 24% company car tax bracket.

The 1.6-litre Twinport engine power output is up from 104bhp to 113bhp. The 0-60mph sprint now takes 10.9 seconds (down from 11.5sec), and the top speed goes up from 115mph to 119mph. It will cost from £13,515.

Prices on all other models across the range increase by £15.
