Audi A1: five-door and cabriolet?

Tuesday, November 06, 2007

The Audi Metroproject Quattro may have been displayed as a concept car at the Tokyo motor show just two weeks ago, but speculation is already rife that it will spawn several A1 supermini derivates.

The three-door A1 based on the Tokyo concept car is expected to go into production in 2009, when it will battle with the Mini Cooper and possibly a BMW rival in the premium supermini market.

Now rumours suggest that five-door and cabriolet versions of the car are in the pipeline for 2010, and these computer-generated images show how they could look.

Both draw heavily on the Metroproject's styling, including keeping the aluminium wheelarches and LED headlights.
