Audi will pull the wraps off this Shooting Brake estate concept car at the Tokyo Motor Show next week.
Tipped to reach showrooms in the next two to three years, the Shooting Brake also provides clues to how the front of the next TT coupe and roadster will look like when they go on sale next year.
The purposeful-looking estate uses Audi's smooth 250bhp 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine that should enable it to sprint from rest to 62mph in 6.0sec and reach a limited top speed of 155mph.
It features a number of technical elements that are destined for current and future production cars. These include high-performance ceramic brakes which will be available on the A8 luxury car early next year, bright, energy-efficient LED headlights and a new satellite-navigation system with a touch screen.
A shooting brake is traditionally a coupe or luxury car modified into a three-door estate at great expense. The idea is to give the well-heeled huntsman more space to store his guns but retain the luxury and exclusivity of the original donor car.
