Our cars: Fiat 500L - August
Week ending August 9
Driven this week 50 miles
I’ve almost been driven mad by the USB and AUX connectors’ inability to work properly with my Samsung S3 Galaxy phone. As there’s no standard sat-nav, I use my phone and Google Maps to navigate. However, the 500L seems to resent this, as it regularly scrambles the verbal GPS directions into gibberish, leaving me to guess which turning or exit to take instead.
The only way to correct this is to either cancel the sat-nav or unplug the phone from the USB port. The Fiat's system also tries to constantly read the USB, and while it’s doing that, nothing else will work, including music playing from my phone.
I’m not sure if it’s a Google Maps glitch that’s making the system misbehave, but this hasn’t happened in any of the other cars I’ve plugged my phone into over the last two months. I’m going to try and get it resolved, as it’s quite a big inconvenience.
