It's always a bit alarming when you're driving along and suddenly an alert comes up on your dash. Alert! Alert! 'Low Tyre Pressure' it flashed at me, with an alternating diagram of the SX-Cross and a lot of numbers.
Rather than stop, I carried on to work, where I consulted the car's manual. It seemed that all the tyres were low, and needed a bit of air. After consulting the recommended guidelines on what pressure each tyre needed to be, and along with the help of colleague, Barnaby Jones and his foot pump, we got the Suzuki's tyres back in shape.
A quick drive round the block and the alert disappeared within a couple of minutes, so I'm assuming we did it correctly.

A couple of long journeys to visit relatives for the bank holiday weekend are looming, so I need to start thinking of ways to keep the kids entertained on the way.
Playing games or watching films on individual iPads or tablets seems to bring on car sickness, but for some reason having one tablet mounted on the upright armrest between the front seats seems to be the solution.
The Joby GorrilaMobile Yogi for iPads might have a silly name, but for just over £30 it's worth every penny. Its bendy arms allow it to be positioned and angled easily, and it grips onto the armrest tightly.
I don't actually make much use of the arm rest when driving, so I don't miss it. Plus it means the boys can watch Despicable Me 2 to their heart's content and I can have some peace and quiet on the way.
The iPad can easily plug into the USB slot inside the armrest at the same time, so there's no chance of it running out of charge. Brilliant!

A two week family holiday in France has managed to rack up over 1200 miles in the Suzuki. I can’t really fault the car – it handled every kind of road with ease, from the narrow country lanes to the big motorways.
I was grateful for having opted for a diesel engine for the SX-Cross, as filling up with "gazole" was so cheap - around 1.27 Euros, or just over £1 per litre, meant I was getting an average MPG of 67.3, which is the best I've managed so far in 9 months and is just ahead of the official figure of 67.2 MPG.

It was our first proper holiday abroad with the Suzuki, which was packed to the hilt with everything our family of four could possibly need for two weeks in France.
We headed for our ferry to Caen courtesy of Brittany Ferries. That bit really was plain sailing - our only difficulty came at the other end when we had to decipher the instruction manual for placing the stickers on the headlights to make us legal to drive in France. After a Blue-Peter style attempt at cutting out pieces of paper as templates, then cutting the actual stickers, I had to bring a tape measure to position them just so on the headlights.
I think I would have been happier with a little switch inside the SX-Cross which could easily 'flip' the lights to point the correct way, but so far the gendarmerie haven't pulled us up on it.
