Audi's scorching new 414bhp RS4 engine is to appear under the bonnet of the A4 Avant and A4 Cabriolet.
Already on sale in the A4 saloon for £49,980, the 4.2-litre V8 is likely to join the estate and convertible ranges by this summer.
Although performance times are a shade slower than the saloon, the RS4 Avant and Cabriolet still smash their way to 62mph in just 4.9secs. Like the saloon, top speed is restricted to 155mph.
Both cars have stiffened and lowered suspension for sharper handling, uprated brakes, the latest traction control systems and quicker steering.
Prices are likely to start at just over £51,000 for the estate and around £55,000 for the convertible.
The RS4 Avant and cabriolets will be on view at the Geneva motor show – come back to whatcar.com next Tuesday February 28 for all the news, photographs and videos from the Geneva show.
