The BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo is a compelling alternative for drivers who want more practicality than most executive saloons offer, but don't like the image associated with estates.
The 3 GT has a bigger boot than the 3 Series Touring, but its hatchback styling allows it to retain an element of style.
The 3 GT's large dimensions are responsible for the huge amount of boot space on offer, although the swooping rear roofline means that space is not as practical as the Touring's luggage space.
However, passengers in the GT's rear seats get a vast amount of legroom - this is the most spacious area of the cabin.
The GT costs slightly more than the Touring, and is not quite as efficient. However, the diesel engines on offer are reasonably economical, while there are several powerful petrol versions on offer for those who want more performance.
