These are computer-generated images of a BMW seven-seater that is rumoured to be going into production in 2009.

The Mercedes R-Class and Audi Q7 rival is being developed under the name RFK, which stands for Room Function Concept, although rumours suggest it may be renamed the V5 when it goes on sale.

The five-door car features three rows of seats, while insiders say an innovative panoramic roof will be a standard feature.

It is based on many of the underpinnings of the BMW 5 Series and will also borrow parts from the X5 4x4

Rumours also suggest it will be offered with 3.0-litre petrol and diesel engines and a 4.8-litre petrol engine, with a choice of manual and automatic gearboxes.

BMW City Car
BMW is also reported to be planning a new small car based on the Mini platform, called the City, for launch in 2010.

Our computer-generated image shows how the car, which it is suggested will be powered by 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, could look.

Lightweight construction techniques are said to be key to the model's production, in a bid to lower carbon dioxide emissions to below 100g/km.
