Britain's best scrappage buys - Skoda Fabia 1.2

The Fabia isn't quite as well kitted out as the winning Hyundai, but it ran it close. That's partly because Skoda will give you an extra £630 off the price – in addition to the £2000 you're entitled to for scrapping your old car.

The Fabia is a seriously spacious supermini, and its ride, handling and build quality aren't far behind the class-leading Ford Fiesta and Vauxhall Corsa.

We've gone for the entry-level model because, although it isn't quick, it's the cheapest Fabia to buy by some margin and still comes with an impressive amount of standard equipment.
