British International Motor Show - Bentley

18 July 2006
Why should I visit the Bentley stand?
There are lots of lovely Bentleys on display, that's why.

The Continental GTC convertible might have been seen by 200 lucky guests at an exclusive party at East Wintergarden in April, and by slightly more punters at the recent Goodwood Festival of Speed, but this is the first show appearance for the car in the UK.

Its 552bhp 6.0-litre W12 allows it to speed along at 190mph with the roof off, so tie down your wig if you're going to spend the necessary £130,000 or so.

And…?
The enormous Azure continental is also a bona fide UK debut. It's a proper four-seater, not a 2+2 like the GTC, and costs a fair bit more at around £220,000 - £55,000 a seat. Power comes from a 450bhp, 6.75-litre V8.

And…?
The Diamond Series GT coupe and Arnage saloon set foot in the UK for the first time too. They celebrate 60 years of Bentley making cars at Crewe in Cheshire with things such as vast ceramic brakes, quilted leather and very pretty diamond-shape parquetry.

And…?
The Continental Flying Spur Mulliner Driving Specification. It adds 20-inch alloy wheels and quilter leather interior to the normal package of treats.

All well worth putting your fingerprints on.
