British International Motor Show - Cadillac and Corvette

18 July 2006
What's new?
This is the first time these two American brands have been at a British Motor Show in force for many, many years.

The two marques were relaunched in the UK last January, but haven't made an enormous impression just yet.

It's not surprising, perhaps, when you consider there are still just 19 dealerships in the country, and that most of the range is left-hand drive only.

What's on offer then?
So far right-hand drive models include the BLS compact executive and, from later this year, the SRX 4x4. If you're happy steering a left-hooker you can also have the CTS executive, STS luxury car and XLR tin-top convertible.

The big ol' Escalade, with a big ol' 6.2-litre V8 engine also arrives late this year, but it will also be left-hand drive.

On the Corvette front, you can pick between a 395bhp 6.0 litre V8 engine in the C6 coupe and convertible, or utterly crazy Z06 which has a 498bhp 7.0 litre V8 engine.
