C30: It's a Volvo, but not as we know it - Safety

24 July 2006
Volvo doesn't do cars that aren't safe. So, the C30 may be radical for Volvo, but it stays true to brand values.

The front-end crash structure is exactly the same as that of the S40 saloon on which the C30 is based, and the rear is also said to be extremely protective, despite a 22cm length reduction.

You'll get the latest anti-lock braking, stability and traction control systems as standard, along with at least six airbags. Volvo's Side Impact Protection System (SIPS) and anti-whiplash head restraints will also be offered.

The blind-spot mirror pioneered on the S60, V70 and VC70 last year is also available. This flashes a warning in the mirror housing if a car is close by and hidden from view.
