Cadillac looks to diesel for UK success

Cadillac is still keen to compete with BMW and Mercedes in the UK, but it needs the right models, which could be years away, according to the company's European boss, Susan Docherty.

'We have to be able to hunt and win in Europe to be credible,' she said. 'The UK is an important market for us, but there's work to do first as we need right-hand drive and diesel.'

Docherty revealed that Cadillac was still ‘three to four years’ away from an appropriate diesel strategy for the brand.

So, it's likely that the UK buyers will have to wait until the 5 Series-rivalling next-generation CTS arrives for a viable four-cylinder diesel to be offered.



Cadillac was showing the new ATS compact exective car at the Paris motor show, but that is available only in left-hand drive form andwith petrol engines.
