Cadillac has brought a new company name and even a few new cars to the Geneva motor show.

What is it?
The name on the Cadillac stand might be familiar, but it’s all change behind the scenes. A new company is being set up to import, market and distribute Cadillacs in Europe – going by the rather unimaginative name of Cadillac Europe – and the foundations of its range are on show in Geneva.

CTS range
Appearing for the first time in Europe was the CTS coupe, which is expected to go on sale In the UK in the autumn. This luxurious 2+2 model has the choice of rear- or four-wheel drive, as well as sporty suspension and a rear-view camera system.

Alongside it on the stand were three other versions of the CTS: the standard saloon and the high-performance 556bhp V8-engined CTS-V (both of which are available now), as well as the Sport Wagon estate, which will be available later this year, as will a high performance CTS-V Coupe.

SRX crossover
Also due to go on sale at the same time is the new SRX crossover, which is based on the same platform as the Vauxhall Antara.

Escalade
Last, but not least – certainly in terms of size – Cadillac showed off the Escalade hybrid, which it claims is the world’s first full-size SUV featuring its Two-Mode Hybrid System.

This allows the vehicle to run solely on electric power at low speed, and also enables the V8 engine to run on four cylinders in certain conditions. The result is a reduction of more than 40% in fuel consumption in city driving and dramatically reduced exhaust emissions.

Exact details of which cars will be coming to the UK – and how much they will cost –will be announced in due course.
