Cadillac will have five right-hand-drive cars on sale in the UK by the middle of the next year when the new CTS saloon, unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show, arrives in the UK.
The American luxury car brand already has the Saab 9-3-based BLS saloon with a steering column to suit UK drivers, and is set to introduce an estate version of the car later this year.
It has also promised to introduce the big STS saloon and SRX 4x4 in right-hand-drive form before mid-2008.
Then comes the new BMW 5 Series-sized CLS, which will be available with diesel power for the first time. The diesel is believed to be same 2.8-litre four-cylinder unit from VM Motori in Italy that also powers a number of Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge products.
Together, the availability of right-hand-drive and a diesel engine should make the new CTS a more conspicuous car on UK roads than the near-invisible current model, although the scarcity of dealers will continue to hamper sales.
There are also likely to be a couple of V6 petrols for the new CTS - a 2.8 and a direct-injection 3.6 that will deliver 300bhp, 50bhp more than the engine of similar capacity in today's car.
