Audi has really gone to town on the new A4 range, which gets a very high overall score and is close to getting a perfect result for body security.
Locks are excellent and there are loads of added features, including a lockable glovebox.The alarm and immobiliser get perfect results, too.

Laminated glazing would bring the A4 very close to getting full marks, but the new A4 is still a very secure car.

2nd: Mercedes C-Class
Price from £23,400
Strong, bonded glazing and a wide range of additional security features win the new C-Class a second-place finish. The ignition system lost a few marks.

3rd: Cadillac BLS
Price from £21,495
Only a short way behind the Mercedes, the BLS could improve its result if its remote locking system just opened the driver's door rather than all four at once.
