19 June 2008
1st: Mini
Price from £11,925

The Mini improves on last year's second-place finish by having particularly good alarm and immobiliser systems.

All round security is very good, but the car's steering column lock proved especially strong.

As with the majority of other cars in the survey, the Mini could have achieved an even higher score if it had been fitted with a locking bonnet, but its result shows you don't have to buy big to get secure.

2nd: Citroen C3 Exclusive
Price from £11,925
The C3 Exclusive narrowly misses out on taking the top spot again. Excellent parts marking and a locking glovebox earn it second place this year.

3rd: Volkswagen Polo SE
Price from £10,785
The door locks on the Polo are particularly good, and earned high scores for the Volkswagen. It's a decent performance for this supermini.
