Although there has been no official confirmation, the car is expected to become a production reality by 2010.
It's based on the same platform as the new Cruze small family car that will also be revealed at the Paris show, and is powered by a 148bhp 2.0-litre diesel engine with 236lb ft of pulling power.
Officials from GM, Chevrolet's parent company, have confirmed they expect the car to achieve at least 40mpg.
