T2X concept reveals Chevrolet's interest in the compact 4x4 market

Chevrolet has pulled the wraps off a new Land Rover Freelander-sized off-roader concept.

The T2X is currently the star of parent company GM Daewoo’s stand at the Seoul Motor Show in Korea. There is no immediate prospect of the concept car going into production, but it shows the manufacturer’s interest in the popular compact off-roader market.

Chevrolet joins the larger 4x4 market next summer with the seven-seat S3X, a rival to the Kia Sorento and Hyundai Sante Fe and is likely to cost around £17,000.

It is considering bringing a pick-up and the Chrysler PT Cruiser-rivalling HHR to the UK, but said a decision is not expected before the second half of this year ‘at the earliest’. Until then, the company will work on establishing the new Chevrolet brand name with existing models.
