Chevrolet will launch the Lacetti TDCi at the Bologna motor show next month. It will be the company's first diesel-powered car to go on sale in the UK when it arrives here next year.
The car is powered by a 2.0-litre common-rail turbodiesel engine that develops 119bhp and 207lb ft of pull.
The hatchback achieves 49.5mpg on average, while the estate is only marginally less economical at 47mpg. Carbon dioxide emissions are 149g/km for the hatch, putting it into the 19% company car tax bracket, and 154g/km and 21% for the estate.
Prices and specification will be announced closer to the car's launch next year.
