Congestion is good for business...

At last, we've found someone who is happy about traffic congestion and the burden of environmental concerns - coach company Stagecoach.

According to the firm, people are switching from their own cars to public transport.

The claim follows a trading update, in which Stagecoach's revenues on the group's British buses rose by 6.9% in the last 48 weeks. At the same time, the number of people using its trains was up by more than 13%.

A spokesman said: 'Passengers are switching from cars to buses and trains because they are more environmentally aware, there is more congestion on our roads and fuel prices are rising.'

He also said that the influx of Eastern European workers was also a key factor in the growing use of public transport.

'They are very comfortable with public transport and are natural users of bus and rail,' he said.
