Dacia Duster prices from £8995
Dacia – the Renault-owned Romanian brand – will be re-launched in the UK with the Duster. Although it's roughly the same size as a Nissan Qashqai (it's 1cm shorter and is slightly wider and taller), the entry-level Duster costs £7600 less than the cheapest Qashqai.
The Duster will be available with front- or four-wheel drive, with a £2000 premium for the latter. Engine choices are a 103bhp 1.6-litre petrol, or a 1.5-litre diesel with 106bhp (107bhp in four-wheel-drive form).
Entry-level Access models are available only with the 1.6-litre petrol engine. Standard equipment includes bare essentials such as remote central locking, electric front windows and front and side airbags.

Prices for dCi diesel models start at £11,495. The premium over petrol models includes an upgrade to Ambiance trim, which adds extras such as body-coloured upper bumper trim, extra chrome exterior trim, foglights, a height-adjustable driver's seat, radio and CD player with steering column controls, Bluetooth, auxiliary input and USB sockets.
Top-spec dCi Laureate models cost an extra £1500 and get extras including alloy wheels, upgraded interior and exterior trim, electric rear windows, air-conditioning and front seatbelt pre-tensioners.
Dacia says that customers can pre-order a Duster now, for a £100 deposit. Prices will be guaranteed during the pre-ordering period until December 2012 and first deliveries are planned for January 2013.

Dacia to launch Fiesta rival
Dacia will expand its model line-up with the Sandero, a Ford Fiesta rival that's likely to be available from less than £7000 when it goes on sale in early 2013. The Lodgy – a new five- or seven-seat MPV – is already on sale in Europe, for less than €10,000 (around £8000). Dacia has yet to decide whether it will be introduced to the UK, but it could arrive by 2014, with a starting price below £10,000.
