Although the long-wheelbase version provides plenty of rear legroom, headroom is limited. This, combined with the low-set rear seat, means it’s not as pleasant to travel in the back of as either the Audi A8 or the Mercedes. Interior quality is not quite a match for the two German cars' either.

All XJ comes well equipped, and in Premium Luxury trim this includes dual-zone climate control, twin glass sunroofs, engine stop-start, an eight-inch colour touch-screen with sat-nav, xenon headlights and DAB radio.
Options to consider include adaptive cruise control with emergency brake assist, premium rear seat package that includes twin 10.2-inch rear screens, four-zone climate control, and individual electric rear seats with ventilation and massage functions.
