Design and desire: Alfa 8C Competizione - Introduction

17 October 2007
Alfa sure knows how to milk its heritage. With the 8C, it is reviving one of the most illustrious names from its glorious past.

The original 8C was a 1930s Le Mans coupe powered by the engine from its then Grand Prix car - a 2.9-litre, 220bhp straight eight.

The new 8C is also a coupe with an eight-cylinder engine, but it's now a 450bhp 4.7-litre V8.

Read on to see the story behind Alfa 's exquisitely designed sports car.
