Design and desire: Alfa 8C Competizione - Practicality and reliability

17 October 2007
Practical?
Don't be daft. There's impressive space for two people and a couple of optional tailored suitcases in the cabin, and a well for a couple of bottles under the glass rear hatch, but the rest of the car is full of engine and fuel tank.

What about the R word - reliability?
Let's give it the benefit of the doubt. Maserati's reliability is on the up, so there's hope (remember, the gearbox and suspension are from Maserati).

The carbonfibre in the cabin might creak and groan a bit, but the engine will out-sing that, and generally the quality of finish is superb.

Four Maserati dealers in the UK will service the car if you happen to be one of the lucky 41.
