Detroit 2007: your guide to the show - Jeep

08 January 2007
What's on the Jeep stand?
The Trailhawk concept car - it gives a passable impression of what next year's all-new Cherokee will look like.

The high-sided waistline and low roofline will probably by watered down a little, as might the ultra-chunky wheelarches, but the overall look is there - butch, uncompromising and headed up by the trademark Jeep grille.

Hopefully, the newcomer will be more refined on-road, but don't expect anything too wimpy - Jeep now has the Compass and Patriot models to rival the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V, and cater for those who want something dedicated to a life on the road.

So, the Cherokee will continue to provide ability on the rough stuff and aim to give the Land Rover Freelander a hard time.
