Detroit 2007: your guide to the show - Mitsubishi

08 January 2007
Have I seen these cars somewhere before
Probably - Mitsubishi has been rolling out Lancer concept after Lancer concept, moving slowly towards the point where it shows the final product.

And is this car that point?
If you're talking Ford Focus-rivalling Lancer - absolutely. The new small family car goes on sale in the UK towards the end of this year, with a wide range of diesel and petrol engines.

It will also form the basis for the next in Mitsubishi's line of high-performance Evo models - the tenth, in fact, so the Evo X.

And that's the other car on show?
Not quite. We're still at the 'nearly, but not quite' concept stage with the Evo, but it's not going to change much between now and its final form. In fact, it's said to be 95% ready.

How fast will it be?
Very fast, probably - Mitsubishi may not have its experience on the world rally stage to draw from with the Evo X (because it has withdrawn from the world rally circuit), but it says the new car will have more power than any previous Evo.
