The new Acura NSX supercar has been revealed at the Detroit motor show 2012.

The NSX Concept appears at the show stand wearing the company’s American premium Acura badge, but Honda has confirmed that the supercar will be produced for Europe too.

A production model will be ready to go on sale within three years and it will carry the NSX badge, Honda has confirmed.

The new car will use a tuned version of Honda’s SH-AWD powertrain, which blends a V6 petrol engine and electric motor with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. There will also be two additional electric motors; one on each rear wheel.

The Detroit concept car shows the styling direction for the Acura-badged car, but the Honda version is expected to be toned down. The production car will be slightly longer and wider than the concept car shown here.

The original Honda NSX was built between 1990 and 2005.
