The Buick Encore revealed at the Detroit motor show 2012 is important to UK buyers for one reason - it shares much with the Vauxhall Mokka SUV also revealed today.

Although the Vauxhall version has different lights, bumpers and grilles, the overall shape - and most interior trim - is identical to the Buick’s.

Vauxhall sources have told us that the Mokka has been tested on UK roads and that both front- and four-wheel-drive versions will be available.

The Vauxhall Mokka will be a rival for compact SUVs like the Nissan Juke and Skoda Yeti.

More information on the Mokka is due soon, prior to a public unveiling at the Geneva motor show in March.

The Mokka is due to go on sale in November and we’d expect prices to start at around £14,000.
