…Chevrolet, which was also in on the classic-car-rebuilt-for-the-21st-Century theme popular at Detroit this year.

Chevy chose to breathe new life into its famous Camaro, packing a 6.0-litre V8 engine under the bonnet.

Producing 400bhp it's 25bhp less powerful than the Dodge Challenger, but the styling does more to develop the company's past than either Dodge or Lamborghini have managed (attractive though their cars may be).

Angular styling updates the menacing, muscular looks of the original a treat.

Don't hold your breath though
There's even less chance of the Camaro arriving in showrooms than the Dodge Challenger.
