Detroit Motor Show - Nissan

09 January 2006
Nissan's MX-5 rival
It might be about integrated X-Box games consoles, transparent door panels and luminous fabrics at the moment, but the Urge is likely to be built as a rival to the Mazda MX-5.

So imagine a simpler two-seater, with a small, revvy engine and rear-wheel drive.

Sounds pretty tempting already, but then add in a super low weight of just over a tonne (less than a Mazda MX-5) and a starting price tag of about £12,000 and you might be getting as excited as we are.

The 350Z proves Nissan can make an entertaining car, so the prospects for this little Urge look good.

Looks good, sounds great
We watched the Urge being driven from one side of the Nissan stand to the other and discovered the Urge has got a great exhaust note - something that really helps to create an involving and exciting driving experience.
