Dodge will launch the Journey at this year's Frankfurt motor show.
The front-wheel drive MPV, which will go on sale in Europe in mid-2008, will be available with a 138bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel, 173bhp 2.4-litre petrol, 186bhp 2.7-litre petrol and a 235bhp 2.7-litre petrol engine.
The Dodge Journey is a seven-seater, although the two rearmost seats are only for occasional use.
Safety features include front, side and curtain airbags, stability control and an electronic anti-roll system.
Options include a rear parking camera, sat-nav, an in-car fridge and rear-seat DVD players.
Prices will be revealed closer to its launch date.
Rather than have competing cars in the same sector, sister brand Chrysler will drop its Voyager MPV when the Journey is launched.
